Paul Imler, age 93, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020, in Maryville, TN, surrounded by his family. Born in Tully Township, Van Wert County, Ohio in 1926. He was the ninth of ten children, born to Fred and Millie Imler. He was a World War II veteran as a second lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve. Prior enlistments are US Air Corp, Army Air Force, and US Air Reserve. After an honorable discharge he graduated Indiana University in 1950 with B.A. and M.S.W. degrees. His varied work experience with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections included Assistant Superintendent at the Ethan Allen School for Boys in Wales, WI, Superintendent of Lincoln Hills School from 1970 to 1977 in Irma, WI, juvenile probation and counseling young adults in prison. He was a talented woodworker, an avid reader and a long time Packer football fan. Surviving family members include his wife of 71 years, Marilyn Imler; 2 sons, Jeffrey (Betty Lou) and Steven (Taime’); his brother, “Bud”; 9 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews. There will be two homegoing celebrations. One on January 17th, 4 P.M. at River Oaks Community Church, 1220 Brown School Rd. Maryville, TN 37804. One in Wisconsin to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Paul’s name to the River Oaks Community Church.
