Norma Jean Bell

Norma Jean Bell, age 72, of Maryville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Norma was a member of Binfield Methodist Church and later attended Oak Street Baptist of Maryville. She loved to cook, tend her garden, and feed her birds. She enjoyed the outdoors especially cades cove and going to the beach. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who cherished spending time with her family and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was the daughter of the late Hubert and Edna Maples, and was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell E. Bell, and her brother, Marion “Sonny” Maples. Survived by her sons, Les McCarter and fiancé, Cindy Tugwell of Seymour, and Tony McCarter of Maryville; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Fay and David Cox of Maryville, Jennifer and Randy Morgan of Friendsville, Julie Kay Bell and David Stephenson of Maryville, and Angela McCarter of Maryville; grandchildren, Special grand “daughter”, Jessica Merchant, Lauren Bandee, Phillip McCarter, Timothy Glandon, Lesley McCarter, Christopher Bell, and Nick McCarter; Five great grandchildren, and other family also survive. A Celebration of Norma Jean’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in the Smith Trinity Chapel. The family will receive friends that evening starting at 5:00 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Sherwood Memory Gardens for the Interment.
