Nick Slater

June 19, 1936 — July 13, 2010

Nick Slater age 74 of Louisville passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at UT Medical Center. He was a Master Mason with Masonic Lodge #181 and a Retired Master Sgt. in US Air Guard at McGhee Tyson Airbase. Nick was a member of First Baptist Church of Alcoa and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. He began his career over 50 years ago at Oak Ridge Hospital, then served as Chief of X-ray at St. Mary’s, and retired from UT after serving in both the hospital and the offices at Admiral Point in Farragut. Nick was active in numerous community and civic organizations including Boy Scouts of America and Band Boosters President at William Blount High School. Preceded in death by: Parents, Joseph & Gertrude Slater. Survivors include: Loving Wife of 38 years, Carolyn Slater; Sons & Daughters-in-law, Darrell & Sandy Slater, Andrew & Robin Slater; and Benjamin & Cackie Slater; Grandchildren, Jeremy Slater, Erica Everett, Amanda Lucas, Kate & James Slater, Charlotte & Patrick Slater; Great-Grandchildren, Dallas Everett and Triston Everett; Mother-in-law, Pauline Allen; Brother & Sister-in-law, James & Linda Larkin; Sister & Brother-in-law, Ginny & Eugene Danner; several nieces and nephews. Masonic and funeral services will be at 7:30 PM, Friday, July 16, 2010 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Freeman Tomlin officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Sherwood Mausoleum Chapel for the entombment with military honors.
