Nellie Evelyn Ramirez

Nellie Evelyn Ramirez, surrounded by the white light of Christ, departed this earthly life on December 16, 2010. She was born August 4, 1932 in Centralia, West Virginia and lived in Lorain, OH for most of her life before becoming a resident of Maryville, TN for the past 15 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Nellie Mae (Wyatt) McIntyre, infant daughter Ramona, and her brothers Larry and Alfred Jr. Survivors include: devoted husband of 53 years, Jess; daughters, Stephanie (Ralph) Woodings of Maryville, TN, Lisa Rios of Elyria, OH; sons & daughters-in-law, Jan Michael (Bernadette) Ramirez of Oberlin, OH, and Robert (Valerie) Ramirez of Columbus Grove, OH; beloved grandchildren, Mitchell, Steven, Valerie, Marlene, Matthew, Reece, Rachel, Benjamin and Nathaniel; great-grandchild, Julianna. Possessing an 8th grade education, Evelyn went on to earn a G.E.D. and graduated from Lorain County Community College in 1974 with an Associates Degree in Education. Learning was a lifelong joy for Evelyn and she encouraged others to obtain the power of knowledge through her genuine interest in their well being. Evelyn was a strong woman both of faith and will, never ceasing to let hardships set her back. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and her deep desire to be spiritually connected to all that was good in life. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the devoted staff at Morningview Transitional Care Center where our loved one was treated with kindness, love, and unsurpassed care. May God bless all of you in every way. Receiving of friends will take place Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Smith Trinity Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Alcoa, TN on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Bede Aboh presiding. Evelyn will then be transported to Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH for burial.
