Reverend Nellie Elvira Monroe Stevens; age 82, of Maryville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Asbury Place. She was a member of Heritage Church of God and was preceded in death by her husbands, James Monroe and Cecil Stevens; grandson, Michael Monroe; step-children, Earl Monroe, Ruby Jefferies, and Margie King; parents, Etta and Cecil Perkins; sisters, Jean Roy, Charlotte Payne; brothers, Ralph, Hudgie, Otha, Henry, Don, and David; Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Marcus and Donna Monroe of Maryville, Stephen and Kathy Monroe of Lenoir City, and Paul and Crystal Monroe of Maryville; grandchildren, Stephanie and James Green, Jessica, Jeremiah, Klint, Stephen II, and Kyra Monroe, Courtney Line & Jay Hunt; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Elijah, Cole, Olivia, Michael, Aiden, Addison, and Julianna, Zoey & Gillian Line; step-sons and spouses, Bob and Nina Monroe and Junior and Irene Monroe; step-daughter, Betty and Chuck Zueber; sisters and brothers-in-law, Delores Tucker, Judy and Virgil Everett, and Eden and Jack Hatcher; brother and sister-in-law, John and Rose Perkins; Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2009 with Rev. Gertrude Osbourne officiating. The family and friends will assemble for the Entombment service at Grandview Mausoleum at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2009.
