Nancy Tilley

September 4, 1936 — April 10, 2013

Nancy Tilley went to be with the Lord following an extended illness on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Asbury Healthcare Center. She was born September 4, 1936 to R.S. ("Prof") & Katherine Howard of Madisonville. Nancy received degrees from Union University, University of Memphis, and Carver School of Missions and Social Work. She served as a pastor's wife for many years, was Madison-Chester Associational WMU Director and Tennessee WMU Recording Secretary, in addition to many other volunteer activities. She was Executive Director of The Center for Adult Reading and Enrichment in Jackson, TN from 1985 – 1995 and was Associate Director of Emerald Youth Foundation in Knoxville, TN from 1996 – 2001. She served on the Board of Directors of the Knox County Christian Women's Job Corps (A Hand Up for Women) and on the Tennessee Christian Women's Job Corps Advisory Board; she also held several volunteer positions at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Preceded in death by: Husband, Rev. W. Clyde Tilley who passed away on April 9, 2013. Survivors include: Son, David Tilley of Maryville; Daughter, Cherilyn Kerchner & husband Todd of Pottstown, PA; Six Grandchildren, Spencer, Brian, Donna and Heather Tilley all of Madisonville, TN and Savannah and Benjamin Kerchner of Pottstown, PA; Sisters, Patsy Herrell & husband Gene of Monroe, NC, Linda Heiskell & husband Jimmy of Kingston, TN, Dean Denton & husband Bill of Maryville, TN, and Jean Lee & husband Irad of Madisonville, TN; Sister-in-law, Mary Ruth McGinnis & husband Paul of Austell, GA; Brother-in-law, Paul Tilley & wife Ann of Athens, TN; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Friday, April 12, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:30 PM in Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service for both Clyde and Nancy will follow at 7:30 PM with Dr. Bob Lynch and Steve Diggs officiating.
