Nancy Baumgardner Burns, 76, of Alcoa, passed Thursday afternoon, February 25, 2016. She was preceded in death by parents, Homer and Helen Baumgardner of Alcoa. She is survived by her loving husband, James T “Sam” Burns, daughter, Julie Costner, son, Tom Costner, wife, Ann Costner, parents of her beloved grandchildren Kaitlyn and Caleb Costner, step son, Brian Burns, beloved aunts, uncle, and cousins, cherished friends and faithful dog Duke. Nancy was a true Springbrook girl, where life long bonds were formed. She graduated from Alcoa High School with the class of '58. She was a cheerleader, runner up to Miss Blount County, and Calendar Girl for Frank Clark's Photography. She was known for her beauty, her homemade rolls, and her benevolent, fun loving nature. She served as a Boy Scout den mother, volunteer school nurse, Jr High Sunday school teacher and president of United Methodist Women. She was an awesome and creative mother, wife, homemaker and friend. She worked at Maryville College bookstore during the 80's and retired from the State of Tennessee Child Support Division. Nancy loved her friends, really good music, poetry and dancing, reading, traveling and was a dedicated Vol and Lady Vol Basketball fan. She will be missed by many. Parting is such sweet sorrow. A celebration of life memorial service will be announced at a later date. Her ashes will be interred at Clark's Grove Cemetery.
