Miller "Buddy" Bass Jr.

Miller G. “Buddy” Bass Jr., age 61, of Maryville, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at the family home. Buddy was born and raised in Waverly, TN and was the son of the late Miller Sr. and Francis Marie Bass. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he ran track and loved UT sports, especially his UT Vols. He worked as a sales manager in wholesale plumbing supply for over 30 years of service. Buddy was a lifelong drummer and loved to play golf at Dean Hill Golf Course. Buddy was an avid ornithologist and bird watcher. He and Sharon loved to travel and attend Six Mile Baptist Church, and playing with his special pets, Jack and Andy. He was a doting grandfather, who truly loved playing with his grandchildren. Buddy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Bass of Maryville; Daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and David Kelley of Knoxville, Heather and Jacob Boyd of Lenoir City; step-Daughters and spouses, Sarah and Randy Teffeteller of Maryville, and Kelly and Mark McCormick of Louisville, TN; Grandchildren, Caroline and Avery Kelley, Isaiah Boyd, Tyler and Jordyn McCormick, and Adelyn Teffeteller; Sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Billy Hugh Link of New Johnsonville, TN with their daughter, Becca Little; Sister-in-law, Valerie Haynes of New Market, MD; Brother-in-law, Jimmy and Cheryl Everhart of Atlanta, GA; Former spouse, Carol Robertson Bass; Special close friends, Ann Melton, Mike DaMann, Caitie “Bug” Shaffer, and James Powers; Many nieces, nephews and other family also. A Celebration of Buddy’s Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Six Mile Baptist Church with a time of visitation starting prior to the service at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make contributions in Buddy’s name to the American Cancer Society.
