Michael Ray Kennedy, age 73, of Maryville, TN, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024. He was born on March 19, 1951, in Rockford, Illinois, to the late John R. Kennedy and Willa M. (Baie) Kennedy.

Mike proudly served his country as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army for 24 years. During his time in the military, he served with honor in the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm, where he earned numerous accolades, including a Purple Heart. His dedication to service continued well beyond his time in uniform, as he remained actively involved in the community through his church, the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and his cherished Life Group and men's Bible study. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he touched many through his commitment to both God and country.

 On June 28, 1975, Mike married the love of his life, Kathy M. (Johnson) Kennedy. For 49 years, their marriage was a testament to enduring love and companionship. Together, they built a life filled with family, faith, and joy. Mike was the proud father of two children, Josh M. Kennedy (Amber L. Kennedy) of Maryville, TN, and Shawn M. Morales (Robert Morales) of Phoenix, AZ. He was also a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren. Hannah Neweski, Halleigh Clark, Tim Clark, Ashleigh Clark, Bryleigh Kennedy, Kyle Kennedy, Sadie Kennedy & great granddaughter

 Natlie Neweski. All of whom were a source of great pride and joy.

 In addition to his immediate family, Mike is survived by his brother, Dan B. Kennedy of Portland, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents John R. Kennedy, Willa M, Kennedy and his brother, Jack Kennedy.

 Mike was a man of many interests, including a passion for antiques, woodworking, and working with his hands. He had a deep love for fishing, hunting, and old cars, always appreciating the craftsmanship and history behind them.

 Mike's creativity and skill were evident in all he did. He will be remembered for his warm smile, his generous spirit, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved. His kindness and strength left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.

 A celebration of Mike's life will be held on September 17, 2024, visitation at 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Springbrook Church, located at 1873 N. Wright Rd., Alcoa, TN 37701. Following the service, friends and family are invited to join the family for lunch in the church's fellowship hall. An Honor Guard burial service will take place at 2:00 PM at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 East Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920, for all who wish to attend.

 Wearing a touch of red, white, or blue would be a heartfelt nod to Mike's love for his country.
