Michael D. Goodin, age 67, of Maryville, passed away on Monday, January 29, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Michael was a beloved member of the Maryville College Hill District community as a mail carrier with the USPS for over 30 years. This unique route required 12 miles of walking daily to deliver mail by foot to homes in the historic district. Along with the mail, he was known for delivering kindness and laughter with his witty humor. After retirement, Michael continued to serve his community over the last two years as a mail delivery driver for Maryville City Schools. Mike has always been known for his kindness, trustworthiness, dependability, and his selflessness. Michael’s most profound impact was as a faithful and loving husband, father, and Papa. His favorite pastimes include camping, hiking, biking, golfing, and mountain adventures/picnics with his family. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Tammie Goodin, children and spouses Valerie and Josh Jones, Logan and Nikki Goodin, Natalie and Johnny Foreman, all of Maryville, TN, and three grandchildren, Alanna Jones, Jackson Goodin, Taylor Goodin, and soon to be 4th grandchild John Thomas Foreman. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Goodin of Louisville, MS, brother John Goodin and spouse Janine Goodin of Fort Mill South Carolina, and sisters Pam Scott and spouse Butch Scott of Poplarville, Mississippi, Cindy Goodin of Ridgeland, Mississippi, Christine Vernon and spouse Jerry Vernon of Louisville, Mississippi and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Cecil Goodin. Mike grew up and went to school in Louisville, MS and graduated from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. Michael’s final resting place will be in Magnolia Cemetery, which was his daily lunch spot on his mail route in the College Hill District. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
