Meek Carter, age 87, of Maryville, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the family home. Meek retired from Mississippi, and upon retirement, moved to Maryville to be closer to the mountains. He was a member and deacon of East Maryville Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. Meek enjoyed gardening, flowers, and woodworking. Meek was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, James and Blanche Carter; First Wife, Elizabeth Helm Carter; and brothers, James Carter Jr. and William Carter; Survived by his wife, Frances Carter; Sons, David Carter and Paul (Tracy) Carter; Daughters, Laneita (Ron) Burr, and Judy Vaughn Enloe; Grandchildren, Tammi (Patrick) Cooper, Joe Carter, Jennifer (Ruben) Carter, Stacey Boykin, Kaitlyn Carter , Amelia Carter; Great grandchildren, Keylee Paine, Kerri Paine, Landon Carter, Ethan Carter, and Emily Carter-Burkett. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. in the Smith Trinity Chapel with a Celebration of Meek’s life to follow at 2:30 p.m. with Rev.
