Mavis Marie Seale, 88, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in the early hours of June 23rd. Mavis was born on April 22, 1930, to Verlie and James (Matt) Venable, in Pebworth, Kentucky, where her family built the first school and church house. Beloved wife of Lowell, mother of Debby, Steve, Melissa, and Chris, grandmother to 12 and great-grandmother to 7, she was deeply loved by all who knew her. Her family cherished the treats of her Southern kitchen, the treasures of her accomplished quilting hand, and the love and welcome anyone could expect to find in her home. Active in the church and truly embodying the qualities of Christ, her kind spirit, generous heart, and gentle honesty touched many. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, William, RB, James, and Ernest, and sons, Steve and Chris. She is survived by Lowell, her devoted husband of almost 71 years; sister Vivian Fox (David); daughters Debby Fox (Dr. Bill Fox) and Melissa Taylor; daughters-in-law Kim Seale (Steve) and Ramona Seale (Chris); grandchildren, Andy Fox (Laurie), Caroline Purcell (John), John Sullivan, Carrie King (Chris), Joel Pittman, Amanda Pittman, Stephanie Platt (Rufus), Ashley Grindlay (Kevin), Arianna George, Alexa George, Cassie Seale, Christina Seale. Grandma will be dearly missed, but her sweet legacy lives on. We will celebrate her life with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018 and funeral services to follow at 12:00 p.m. in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. David Fox officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 p.m. following the funeral service at Grandview Cemetery.
