Mattie Mason

Mattie Hamby Mason, age 91, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Maryville Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her family. Mattie was born on February 29, 1920 in Morgan County, Tennessee to Elbert and Mary Hamby. Mattie grew up in Scott County, Tennessee and was one of 12 children. She was a homemaker and very talented seamstress. She loved quilting and until her declining health, enjoyed piecing quilts for her family. She was married to Odas Mason in August 1945. Preceded in death by: Husband, Odas Mason; Parents, Elbert & Mary Hamby; Brothers, Hubert Hamby, William Robert (Rob) Hamby, James Ray Hamby, Marion Taylor (Tim) Hamby, and Lonis Edward Hamby. She is survived by her children: Toni & Willard Nichols of Burksville, KY, Leona & Harry Plumlee, Ed & Sheila Mason, Brenda & Myron Farner all of Maryville, TN; Grandchildren, Carmen Nichols, Eric Nichols and Lelia Nichols Holcomb all of Georgia, Norman Plumlee, Melanie Mason Croft, Melissa Mason, and Nathan Farner all of Maryville; Great-Grandchildren, Craig Moulton, Cheyanne Croft, Parker Nichols, Tyler Plumlee, Austin Holcomb, Morgan Nichols, Harrison Plumlee, Landon Holcomb and Mason Croft; Brothers & Sisters-in-law, Bill & Julie Hamby and Ulyous & June Hamby; Sisters and Brothers-in-law, Virgie & John Honeycutt, Della Coley, Mabel & Delbert Griffith, and Hattie Hamby. Also, special thanks for the wonderful care to the employees of Maryville Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, especially the employees on North Wing 200 and East Wing 300. Funeral service will be at 8:00 PM, Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Arkie Baker and Rev. Brooky Gray officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Grandview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Norman Plumlee, Eric Nichols, Nathan Farner, Craig Moulton, Parker Nichols, Tyler Plumlee, Eric Croft.
