Matthew “Pudd” Adam Ervin, age 37, the wittiest, most painfully honest, most protective of those he loved, wildest, meanest, best father, husband, son, uncle and brother burst out of this stupid, painful earthly existence on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 7:10 pm into the glory of Heaven and everlasting fishing where the topwater never ends. Matthew (barely) graduated from Greenback High School in 2003 where his subjects of choice were football and in-school suspension and his GPA was marginally higher than gas prices in 1998 although his IQ tested off the charts. During high school Matthew was known for selling his yearly pictures “because the girls wanted them, mom” and giving away his warm winter coats when he saw someone that needed it. The entire Greenback community supported #2 and the family appreciates that then and now. After high school Matthew had a variety of interesting jobs. A couple of the most memorable were Gallaher and Associates where the mischief ensued and then Denso where there was more shenanigans and pranks then work done. If you were fortunate enough to work with or know Matthew then you were guaranteed a fun time and belly laugh. In July 2021 Matthew took apart his first fishing reel at home then Matt “Hack” McKee from McKee Outdoors gave him a space to perfect his craft and the Reel Doctor was born. Matthew was so happy hanging out at McKee Outdoors, mingling with fisherman and talking his usual smack. As a matter of fact, the only time Matthew was happier was if he had his boys out on the boat fishing. Man, he loved fishing and sharing it with his children. There is so much we celebrate and remember about Matthew from his He-man Woman Hater breakfast sandwich to his love of Superman, the Florida Gators and his favorite dinosaur Blue from Jurassic Park. He was one of a kind and had a unique way with people. The first time he met Monica, his wife, she was his boss at work. He left her a straw and a note that said, “If I gave you a straw would you suck the fun out of someone else’s day?” It was then a love story was born and Matthew was never happier. Matt was the master of pranks from legos in shoes or beds to super glueing a lunch tote together to leaving “surprises” in bathrooms that could make a business close. He loved his people so hard and enjoyed making everyone laugh. Matthew’s memory will forever be kept alive by his loving wife, Monica Ervin, his five amazing boys and one little girl- Kayden who shares so much of Matthew’s looks and attitude, Carson who shares Matthew’s intelligence and kindness, Mason who shares Matthew’s goodness and heart, Camden who shares Matthews mischievousness and quick wit, Xander who knew how to con Matthew out of one more haircut and Alessa, the little girl he always wanted. Matthew is also survived by his loving parents, Danny and Mary Ervin; loving sibling rivalry with brothers Donnie Ervin, Brian and Claudette Ervin and favorite sister Tennille and Richard Creekmore; nieces and nephews that Matthew inflicted his love upon Lidnsey Cagle, Destiny Turner and Tony, Lance Cagle, Briley Ervin, Bradee Ervin, great niece and nephews Peyton, Greyson and Caison. There are a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, best buddies and friends who also celebrate Matthew with us. A private family viewing will be held. Please join our family when receiving friends on Thursday July 14, 2022 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM and Celebration of Life following at 7:00 PM at Mt.
