Mary Belle Williams

Mary Belle Williams, 92 of Maryville, TN went to be with the Lord, on December 5, 2019 at Foothills Transitional Care surrounded by family. Mary loved Southern Gospel Music, reading her Bible, Christian fiction books, cooking, needle point, and some quilting. On July 9th, 1949 she married Gerald F. Williams at the age of 22. Three years later they had their first son, Gerald Wayne, then 17 months later she had Bobby Dean. During her early part of marriage, Gerald and Mary started going to church in Taylor Town, TX., and they both became Christians, and Mary taught the little children’s sunday school class. One of the kids in her class was Duane Allen who came to be one of the Oak Ridge Boys Quartet. Later Mary and Gerald attended the Free Holiness Church in Gadston, TX. Once they moved to Tennessee, they attended the Unitia Free Holiness Church in Friendsville, TN. When her boys married and grandchildren came along, she started a tradition of the family gathering at her house every Sunday after church to eat lunch together. The Williams family always had a very strong bond together and enjoyed doing things together. Mary was preceded in death by: husband, Gerald F.; son, Bobby Dean; parents, Barney and Stella Sugg; brothers, Argel, Melvin, Buryl, Dewey, Ray, Calvin, David, and Gary. Survivors include: son, Wayne and wife, Myra; daughter-in-law, Annette; grandchildren, Robert and Kathy Williams, Yvonne Williams, Laura and Lavelle Anthony, Martin and Elixa Williams; great- grandchildren, Sara, Cara, Bobby, Nicholas, Grace Anne, Myles, Yasuri, Angel, and Yanelly; great-great-grandchildren, Madalyn and Sophia; brothers, Charles Sugg, Leon Sugg; sister, Clara Payne; lots of nieces, nephews and friends. Family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 PM Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Smith Chapel. The funeral service will follow with Chaplain Scott Payne with Amedysis Hospice, and John Groover officiating.
