Mary Penny Nelson

Mary Penny Nelson went to her heavenly home on June 16, 2015 at the age of 93. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother as well as a member of Everett Hills Baptist Church. She was also a retired employee of Blount County Schools. Preceded in death by: husband, Howard "Doby" Nelson; parents, Larry & Mary Penny; sisters, Janet Alexander, Edith Beckwith, and Lottie Council. She is survived by her sisters, Betsy Penny and Helen Bullock. She is also survived by son and daughter-in-law, Steve & Dian Nelson; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Pat Nelson; daughter and son-in-law, Penny & Lou Bailey; grandchildren, Stephanie Gill, Stacie Castaneda, Shannon Nelson, Jaime Rasar and husband Jason, Brandi Adams and husband Jason, Zac Bailey, and Chad Bailey and wife Sarah; great-grandchildren, Cayman, Peyton, Megan, Channing, Rhett, Katie, Jay, Brody, Halle, and Jase. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Nelson's caregivers, Jaime and Jason Rasar. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Grandview Cemetery with Rev. Brad Bryant officiating.
