May 20, 1939 — January 13, 2009

Mary Jane (Bennett) Baker age 69 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Columbus, KS and the Sweet Adeline's choral group in Houston, TX. She also was active with the Girl Scouts in Alvin, TX. She was a member of the CCC High School Marching Band that marched in the Eisenhower Inaugural parade in 1957. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer & Mildred Bennett and brother, Charles Bennett. Survivors include her husband, Herbert H. Baker; son & daughter-in-law, Stewart & June Baker of Severn, MD; daughter & son-in-law, Alice & Kim Sheppard of Harvest, AL; 2 grandchildren; brother, Jim Bennett of St. Charles, MO. Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Smith's Chapel with Rev. Dodd Allee officiating. Memorial donations may be made to East TN Children's Hospital or the Shiners Hospital for Children in Galveston, TX. Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, 865-983-1000.
