Martha Louise Boardman

Martha Neal Boardman passed away peacefully at the age of 91, Tuesday morning April 11, 2017. Martha graduated from Vanderbilt University as a Civil Engineer in 1948. She was a dedicated teacher in Maryville schools for 30 years; teaching math, mechanical drawing, and social studies. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and faithful 60 year member of New Providence Presbyterian Church having served as teacher, elder, and clerk of session. Martha was chairman of the Blount County Soil Conservation Service for many years and also was a Registered Land Surveyor. She loved farming and gardening. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Douglas B. Boardman, and three sons, Allen and wife Linda, Richard and wife Kathy, and Larry and wife Jennie, as well as seven grandchildren, Lauren, Chris, Matthew (deceased), Jonathan, Thomas, Christopher, and Daniel. Martha’s funeral will be at Smith Funeral Home on Friday at 11:00 AM with graveside service following at Grandview Cemetery.
