Marion A. Royse, 74, of Maryville passed away on October 8th. Visitation to be held at Smith’s Thursday, October 17th, 6 pm-7 pm; burial October 18th at Sherwood at 11 am. A proud father and grandfather, he enjoyed spending time and good meals with family and friends. He graduated Eastern Illinois University and was a Kappa Mu Epsilon Mathematics Society member. He received his M.B.A. from University of Akron. Marion had a successful career as a chemist for Firestone during Vietnam developing military tires. His next career took him to New York as Worldwide Group Intellectual Property Manager for Schlegel Manufacturing that brought him to Maryville in 1982. During his time with Schlegel, he developed/patented a flush-glass window assembly. A world traveler for Schlegel, he retired after 33 years of service. Marion loved to play tennis, ping pong and board games. He invented a 4-person chess game that he produced and sold. Marion was the youngest of 6 children and is preceded in death by his parents Ada and Virgil Royse, his brothers Rozell and Ernest, and his beloved sister Elizabeth. He is survived by his son Randy, Randy’s mother Mary Royse, his grand-twins Ashten and Kaden, daughter-in-law Angela Royse, his loving nieces Carol Grubb and Anita Westall, his brother Carl Royse, and sister Evelyn Berger. Marion was a member of PJ Parkinson’s Support Group in Maryville and proud participant of their first walkathon.
