Marion Griffitts age 83, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024. She retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co. after 43 years of service. When many people think of Alcoa they think of Dick Ray, and then Marion Griffitts. She was also administrative assistant to other Alcoa managers throughout her career. There are countless stories of people that she helped in so many different ways. Marion served and was involved in Alcoa's 25-Year Club, Annual Ladies Luncheon, TN Operations Scholarship Program, the New Heart Society, Gideons International, Maryville Friends Church, and the Knoxville Secretary's Association. Marion loved gardening, raising orchids, and her dog Buddy. She was selflessly devoted with her love and attention to her family and loved ones. We could not have asked for more. Preceded in death by: parents James C. Ridings and Mary Sue Hughes Ridings, brother Keith Ridings, sister Shirley Ridings Hall, husband Dale J. Griffitts, and special friend Al McBride. Survivors include daughters Anne Swaney (Darrell) of Maryville and Leah Leblond (Jeff) of Wartrace, TN, grandchildren McKenna and Karley Swaney, and Luc, Elijah, and Asa Leblond, sisters Anne Patrick of Maryville and Lynda O'Brian (Roy) of Virginia, brothers Jimmy Ridings (Sandra) of Virginia and Phillip Ridings of Maryville, many nieces, nephews, and other family. The family is requesting memorial donations be made to Gideons International. Family will receive friends from 3-5 PM, Sunday, August 18 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will be at 5 PM. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 11 AM Monday, August 19 at Grandview Pavilion, 2316 Graves Road, Maryville, TN 37803.
