Marilyn A. Mckiness

April 26, 1926 — June 30, 2006

Marilyn A. McKiness, M.L.S. age 80 passed away Friday, June, 30, 2006 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was born April 26, 1926. Preceded in death by: Beloved Mother, Stella Bolster McKiness. Survivors include: Kathy Murphy and cousin Juel McCullough. Marilyn leaves behind many friends locally being especially close to Ann and Ted Trohanowsky, Betty Fishel, and Kristie Brewer as well as friends in St. Francis Church, Townsend. In addition she leaves friends in the Hampton, Virginia School System from which she retired as a librarian in 1988. Marilyn was close to the sisters of the St. Cecilia Congregation in Nashville of which she was a member for 24 years. Many years were spent by her as principal and teacher in Catholic schools in the Nashville and Memphis dioceses. Always a devout Catholic, she made her religion a blueprint for correct living. Never did she pass up the opportunity to say the kind word, do the kind deed. Biblically it can be said of her, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Having lived in this world she made it a better place. On her behalf, gratitude is expressed to the wonderfully kind and competent nurses and doctors of Blount Memorial Hospital who cared for her during her two month hospitalization. Many thanks also to the nurses of Thompson Oncology at Blount who cared for her during her three year illness. "Out of the depths we cry to you, O Lord. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleading. If you, O Lord, should mark our guilt, Lord, who would survive? But with you is found forgiveness and for this we revere you." (Psalm 130) Requiescat in pace. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 3, 2006 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Alex Waraksa officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Marilyn A. Mckiness please visit our Sympathy Store.
