Marie M. Payne

Marie Harrison Payne, age 97 of Maryville, died on July 9, 2017 at Asbury Assisted Living. Born September 12, 1920, in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, she lived in Blount County for most of her life. Formerly a longtime member and children’s ministry worker of Monte Vista Baptist Church, Marie has been a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville since April of 2009. She was a twenty-year employee of Proffitt’s department store, working in both the furniture department and the furniture office. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Earl L. Payne; daughter, Jeanette Lanning Payne Davis; parents, Ellis Webb Harrison and Minnie Pearson Harrison. Survivors include her son-in-law, Winston (Sid) Davis, and cousin Randolph Hensley. She is also survived by multiple other cousins, as well as nephews and nieces. Ms. Payne was especially grateful for the care and kindness she received from Mr. Davis. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Grandview Cemetery with Rev. Greg Price officiating.
