Margaret Ann Osborne

May 15, 1928 — March 30, 2017

Margaret Ann Roberts Osborne, 88, a long time resident of the Alcoa community went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 30th. Born in 1928 in Alva, Kentucky, her family relocated to Williamsburg where she lived throughout her teen years. She attended college in Barbourville Kentucky where she met and married her husband Vernon Osborne in 1949. Margaret Ann received a Bachelor of Science in Education with minor in Home Economics from Union College in 1950 and in the same year, she and Vernon moved to Alcoa. Margaret Ann was a devoted wife and mother of their two daughters. She was a homemaker until 1964 when she added another career and began teaching at Porter Elementary School in Blount County where she worked until her retirement in 1994. She was an avid sports fan. Her favorite high school team was the Alcoa Tornadoes and she especially enjoyed watching them play basketball. Margaret Ann was a member of First Baptist Alcoa. She is survived by her husband of 67 years Vernon, her daughters and their spouses, Judy and Henry Davis, Bette and Henry Haile, her grandchildren Lea and Stephanie Davis, Martha and Timmy Bittle, and Carrie Davis, her great grandchildren, Nora Kate and Miller Davis, Walker Bittle, and special friend Edaella. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to First Baptist Alcoa or the Alzheimer’s Tennessee Inc. 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Smith West Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM.
