Margaret Peggy Lambert

October 13, 1940 — May 8, 2022

Margaret (Peggy) Kidd Lambert age 81 of Maryville, Tn died peacefully surrounded by family and friends at the hospital on May, 8, 2022, after a valiant battle with cancer. Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, John Mitchell Lambert, Jr., and her parents Clyde and Margaret Kidd. Survivors include her beloved sons John Mitchell Lambert III (Andi) and Jason Matthew Lambert (wife April); adored grandchildren Sophia, Luke, Hollyn, Helen, and Charlie Lambert of Charleston, SC; brother Bob Kidd (wife Dottie) and sister Cindy Teague; niece Robin Kidd, many nieces and nephews and their families, and spoiled Dachshund, Bella. Peggy graduated from Maryville High School and the Grady School of Nursing, and she was a traveling nurse with amazing stories from hospitals in New York and California. Peggy had great passions for gardening and antiques, and anyone who had the privilege of visiting her Maryville home knew that she excelled at both. Peggy was a consummate hostess, throwing memorable parties for her many friends and fundraising for Republican candidates. Peggy was a leader in Republican politics for decades, including in Alabama in the 1970s and ‘80s when the party was being rebuilt, and she hosted President and Mrs. Reagan at numerous events in Alabama. Upon her return to Maryville in 1985, she rapidly advanced in the state party, serving multiple terms as State Committee Woman and National Vice Chairman of the Republican Party, as well as a Blount County Commissioner for five years. Few worked as hard in Republican circles as Peggy, and she had a big hand in many successful statewide and local races. Peggy fiercely loved her children, her grandchildren, her brother Bob and his wife Dottie, Cindy, her many friends, and of course Bella. She had a strong Christian faith and is now at peace in the Kingdom of Heaven with her savior Jesus Christ.
