Margaret Yearout Giffin, 92, was born August 12, 1926 in Blount County, TN and died peacefully on June 2, 2019 in Maryville, TN of COPD and other natural age related issues. During her lifetime, she lived in LaGrange, IL for approximately 30 years before returning to Maryville. During World War II, Margaret worked for the US government in Oak Ridge, TN in the development of the atomic bomb. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Giffin, her parents, James Elmer and Lillie Mae [Carver] Yearout, three brothers, Ervil, Daniel Allen [DA] and Wayne as well as four sisters, Ruth Morton, Naomi Brewer Corda, Wanda Amburn and Dena Early, and one niece, Ava Yearout. She is survived by godson, Kevin O’Hara, of Murfreesboro, TN, special grand-nephew, Ryan Wall, of Naperville, IL and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Significant thanks go to the entire staffs of Brookdale-Sandy Springs and Blount Senior Care Partners for their outstanding concern and excellent care for Margaret over the past ten years and to UT Hospice for their recent assistance. Additional appreciation goes to Dr. Greg Cook, DDS and his staff for Margaret’s long-term excellent dental care. Margaret’s wishes for a simple graveside service will be honored and will be handled by Smith Funeral Home in Maryville with interment at Grandview Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 7 at Grandview Cemetery.
