Mable Costner Love-Brown

January 16, 1936 — July 13, 2018

Mable Costner Love-Brown, Born Loudon County, Tennessee January 16, 1936, aged 82 years, passed to eternal life Friday July 13, 2018 at UT Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a member of Middlesettlements United Methodist Church in Maryville, Tennessee where she took many active roles in the church as pianist, organist, President of the Women’s Society of Christian Service, Lay Delegate to the United Methodist Holston Conference, and Chair of Missions being instrumental in the construction of an elementary school in Paraguay. Mable worked for the Blount County Greeting Service prior to spending 27 years with the Tennessee Department of Human Services Food Stamp Division. She was preceded in death by parents Claude and Louvenia Costner, brothers Wayne Costner and Lloyd Costner, 1st husband Dale Love, son Mark Love, 2nd husband Tom Brown, and grandson Justin Love. Mable is survived by daughter June Love Shaw and husband Mark Shaw, sons and spouses Stan and Fran Love, Sam and Patsy Love, Mitch and Kim Love, Henry and Chantal Love, daughter-in-law Janet Backus Love, step-daughters Sharon Brown, Nancye Brown, and Carol Brown Martinez and husband Gilberto. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service in Maryville from 5-8pm Wednesday, July 18th. Funeral service will be held at Middlesettlements United Methodist Church Thursday, July 19th at 11am with graveside immediately following in the church cemetery. Special thanks is given to caregivers Malynda Abbott, Martha Byrd, Faye Barrett, Helen Lifford, and Linda Hearon for their time and service in the care of our mother since her stroke suffered January 22nd, 2018. Heartfelt appreciation is also extended to the doctors and staff of UT Hospital for the great care given her in her final days.
