Mabel Hill Reese Ogle

Mabel Hill Reese Ogle, 95, passed away quietly at home on Friday, December 16, 2016. Born in Cades Cove on May 16, 1921 to Albert and Martha Hill, she was the oldest of six siblings. She graduated from Walland High School (1939) and later Carson Newman College (1943) then taught school in the Blount County School system until retiring in 1985. For many years she was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star and her church, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member for 86 years. Her mind and spirit outlasted her physical body. She was preceded in death by her parents; three infant siblings; sister, Ruth Esposito and brother, Elmo Hill; first husband, William Alton Reese; infant daughter, Janice Ruth; nephew, William Hill; and niece, Marta Esposito. Survivors include her husband, Marvin Ogle; sister-in-law, Julia Hill; nephew, Edward Hill; niece, Nancy Esposito Newton; numerous grand or great-grand nephews and nieces. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 with Rev. Greg Long officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.
