Luke David Waggoner was born May 10, 2022 at 5:10. He was diagnosed with a rare and terminal metabolic condition, Pyruvate dehydrogenase disorder. After being in the NICU for two weeks, he gained the strength to come home. Luke developed a love for snuggles, head scratches, being outside, and being held by his sister Ada. Shortly after, he was admitted to Children’s Hospital. On June 17th, Heaven gained a little angel. Luke died peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, with his dad by his side and in his mother’s arms. Luke is preceded in death by his grandmother, Barbie Waggoner (Nana). Luke is survived by his father and mother, Thomas & Tina Waggoner; Sister, Ada; Grandparents, Keith & Kathy Lambert (Pops and Noni) and Bernard Waggoner (Opa); Aunts and Uncles, Renee & Matt Hammett, Sara & Woodrow Hughes, and Kristen & Chad Carver; and his cousins, Davis, Eva, & Brett Hammett. We would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and fellow staff at the UTMC NICU and Children’s Hospital PICU for providing Luke phenomenal care. You truly touched our hearts. The prayers and support we have received are carrying us through this difficult time. The Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm on June 26, 2022 at the Grandview Pavilion. In lieu of flowers, we ask everyone to bring a toy to donate in Luke’s honor, or make a donation to UTMC NICU, or East TN Children’s Hospital pain & palliative care fund.
