Louise Adell McGhee Schmitt

June 29, 1918 — December 3, 2014

Louise Adell McGhee Schmitt. The God of infinite wisdom being satisfied that His earthly purpose for Louise was completed called her into the majesty of His eternal presence on December 3, 2014. Her path of life will be treasured by those she touched by her loving, caring and self-sacrificing spirit. She was a member of Alcoa First Baptist Church . She is survived by her son, Frank Schmitt III and wife, Bobbie, of Lynchburg, VA; daughter, Ethel Brown and husband, Ray of Alcoa, TN; eight grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren; She is preceded in death by husband of over fifty years, Frank Joseph Schmitt II, and daughter Dorothy Lisenby. She will be missed by a host of other family members and friend. Louise was a hardworking, Godly woman whose life reflected the model woman from Proverbs 31. Many extended family members were welcomed in her home in times of need. Louise and her husband established and operated Schmitt Grocery in Letohatchee, AL. They retired to Montgomery, Al where she became active in crafts and dolls. She made many quilts, dolls and crafts. Her crafts won ribbons at the fair, were sold at craft shows, in shops in Gatlinburg, and at Sac's Gallery in Montgomery. She was active in the Montgomery Doll Club and was an avid collector of hundreds of dolls. Louise moved to Maryville, TN to be near her daughter and resided at Maryville Towers several years before moving to Asbury Place. Louise endured a blood disorder requiring many transfusions. Dr. Wahid Hanna and his staff were wonderful to her. It was said of her, "the blood of Jesus Christ gave her eternal life and the blood of many donors kept her alive in this life". Louise was a friendly, loving and outgoing person. Her strong desire to live was evident with her diet and love for walking. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 6, 2014 in the Smith Trinity Chapel from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. with a Memorial service to follow. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Montgomery, AL. Friends and family are invited to attend.
