Allen, Louise Adele, age 82, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson's disease on Sunday March 18, 2007 at Asbury Place. She had been a resident there since September 2005, when she and her husband moved to Maryville from New Orleans after Hurrican Katrina. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Robert W. Allen of Maryville, her brothers, David Jamieson of Whitefish, Montana, Robert Jamieson of Shoreham, New York, and her five children along with their spouses, Joel and Lidia Allen of Tucson, Arizona, Heather and Scott Erwin of Bluffton, South Carolina, Cynthia and Dr. Philip Hoffman of Maryville, Tennessee, Susan and Michael Duggins of Orlando, Florida, Robert Jr. and Therese Allen of Black Mountain, North Carolina, and seven grandchildren. She was born on April 6, 1924, in Athens, New York as one of five children of William and Marie Jamieson. She was a direct descendant of Robert and Mary Hawkins, who came over from England aboard the ship, Elizabeth and Anne in 1620, arriving seventeen days after the Mayflower. She grew up in Patchogue, Long Island, where she would eventually meet and marry Robert Allen in June 1946. In 1959, the Allen family moved to New Orleans and it was there that they raised their five children. Louise Allen was a lifelong homemaker, seamstress, gardener, amateur artist, book lover and avid tennis player. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, her local garden club, several tennis clubs and other community organizations. She was the glue that held our family together and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her and loved her. A memorial service will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church of Maryville on Sunday, April 1, 2007, at 2:30 PM with Dr. Jerry Russell presiding. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the charity of your choice.
