Louis David Karschnik

Louis “David” Karschnik, 72, of Greenback, TN, went to his heavenly home, Sunday, January 8, 2017. David was born April 12, 1944 in Gallipolis, Ohio, the eldest son of Emma Jean and Louis Joseph Karschnik. He graduated from Wahama High School in West Virginia and attended Marshall University. On November 13, 1965 he married his wife of 52 years, Diane Everett of Greenback, TN. David and his family lived in Louisiana for 34 years before retiring and moving with Diane back to Greenback. David was a deeply beloved and devoted husband, father and friend. He cherished his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. His definition of success was seeing his family happy and healthy. David was an avid reader with a special interest in history. He was a scholar on the Civil War and spent many years pursuing his passion through reading, visiting battle memorials and Civil War reenactments. David is survived by his wife, Diane, two sons, Walter Karschnik and his wife Alicia of Tucson, AZ, Christopher Karschnik and his wife Jennifer of Ragley, LA and daughter Erin Karschnik and her husband Martin of Tucson, AZ; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Courtney, Cheyenne, Gage and Emily Karschnik, Kaleb Smith and Khloey Dumatrait, his brothers and in-laws Andy and Ginny Karschnik of Memphis, TN and Pete and Mel Karschnik of Pomeroy, OH as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Jean Karschnik, his in-laws Wood and Metta Everett, his best friend Kenneth Stineff and his beloved granddaughter, Brittany Karschnik. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 13 at Oakland United Methodist Church, 234 Trigonia Road, Greenback, TN. Reverend Steven K. Yeaney will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Oakland United Methodist Church.
