Lon Stuart Herzbrun

Lon Herzbrun was born in Welch, West Virginia. He grew up in Washington DC graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School. He played football and graduated from The University of Tennessee. He served in the Army as a paratrooper and ranger and played football for the 101^st division.  He coached at Fulton High School, and at the University of Tennessee, and at Maryville College.  He created and operated Olympia Athletic Club for almost 4 decades with his family.  He will be remembered as a great teammate, coach, mentor, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all that knew him.  He was a true champion in the game of life.

Lon passed away June 3, 2022 at the age of 87. Lon is survived by his children, Eric Herzbrun (Jan) and Yvette (Harold Smiddy); their mother Wilma Herzbrun; Grandchildren Lee (Katie Brannon) and Alicia Darnell (Jason); great grandchildren, Emerson and Charlee Darnell; Sister-in-law, Melanie Erhardy; numerous nieces and nephews and family in France.  Lon is preceded in death by his parents, Tina and Edward Herzbrun and his brothers, Philip and Joseph Herzbrun.

A funeral service is scheduled for 5:00 pm on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Fairview United Methodist Church, 2508 Old Niles Ferry, Maryville, TN. Receiving of friends will immediately follow the service.
