Linda Mae Chandley Dunford, 66, passed away June 11, 2009 at her home in Alcoa, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ottis and Bertha Chandley, brother, Ottis Chandley, Jr., first cousins Steve Hensley, Bruce Estepp, Brenda Middleton and nephew John Chandley. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Gerald Dunford. Son and daughter-in-law, David and Wendy Dunford of Maryville; Daughter and son-in-law, Jo and Doug Haag of Orlando, FL; by her four greatly loved grandchildren: Ashley and Emily Haag of Orlando, FL and Caleb and Skyler Mae Dunford of Maryville. Brothers Dale and sister-in-law, Dema Chandley and Wayne Chandley of Greeneville; Sisters Lois and brother-in-law Henderson Hood of Kingsport, Betty and brother-in-law Harris Porter of Lenoir City. Numerous first cousins and four double first cousins, Boyd and wife Rena Chandley, Jerry and wife Carol Chandley, Johnny and wife Bonnie all of Telford, and Jean and husband Randall of Greene County; Sisters-in-law Ginny and Harold Rosser of Knoxville, Jean and Allen Marcum of Oneida, and Brother-in-law Harold and Dorothy Dunford of Allardt. Linda was a direct descendant of John Sevier which entitled her to membership in the Daughters of American Revolution Mary Blount Chapter, the U.S.D. 1812 General Henry Knox Chapter, and the Continental Society Daughters of Indian Wars Treaty of Tellico Blockhouse Chapter. She was also a member and past president of the 18-Hole Women's Golf Association at Green Meadow Country Club. She had two special golfing partners: Kathy Begoon and Lynda Williams. She was a former member of Mt Bethel Christian Church in Limestone and the Limestone Garden Club. Linda's body will be cremated and a marker will be placed in the Mt Bethel Cemetery in Greene County. Linda was known for the sacrificial love that she had for her family. Her greatest joy was being with her brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, children and grand-children. Linda's passing will be mourned by all who were privileged to know her. Visitation with family and friends will be Sunday, June 14th from 2-5pm at the Smith Mortuary Life Event Center, 1402 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville. A second gathering of friends and family will take place on Monday, June 15th from 5pm-8pm at the Horse Creek Church of God's Family Life Center in Greene County.
