Lillian Bernice Wormsley age 96 of Maryville passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Bernice was born on July 26, 1918, Jenkins, KY to the late Sam and Lillie Tucker. She received her Masters Degree from Union College in Barbourville, KY and another degree from The University of Tennessee. Bernice moved to Maryville in 1955 where she taught for over 50 years at Everett Elementary and was the Librarian at Rockford School. She traveled to all 48 states, Alaska, Hawaii, Europe and the Carribean. Bernice was a member of St. John United Methodist Church, Martha Washington No. 231, Order of the Eastern Star, Chilhowee Club, Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher's Sorority, Blount Hill F.E.C, Blount Co. Retired Teachers, and AARP. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Wormsley; brother, Clarence, sisters, Marveline and Edith. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Neal and Beverly Jo Wormsley, and Mickey and Krista Wormsley; daughter, Anetha Grant; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren,; sister, Helen Johnson. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015 in the Smith Trinity Chapel. A private family entombment will be held at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service.
