Leonard Ray Whitehead

April 18, 1941 — July 23, 2012

Leonard Ray Whitehead of Vonore went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 23, 2012 after fighting a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was a member of Upper Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and true friend who was deeply loved and will be missed by those who knew him. Preceded in death by: Parents, Harold & Daisy Whitehead; Sister, Alice Faye Jolly; Sister-in-law, Johnny Mae Whitehead; Brother-in-law, Pete Yearout; Infant Daughter, Tammy. Survivors include: Wife of 18 years, Pamela Whitehead; Children, Jordan Whitehead of Vonore, Marty & Amanda Whitehead of Vonore, Misty & Vince Cardin of Knoxville, Karen & Doug Simerly of Rockford, Pam & Tony Godwin of Maryville, Becky & Billy Fox of Knoxville, Vicky & Barry Case of Maryville, Donna & Ed Wichert of Maryville; Junior Whitehead of Maryville; many grandchildren; Brothers, Jimmy Whitehead & wife Juanita and Bucky Whitehead all of Maryville; Sisters, Nadine Yearout of Rockford, P.A. & Junior Lane of Rockford, Wanda & Carl Jones of Maryville, Jody & Charley Davis of Maryville; many nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Smith West Chapel with Rev. Mike McClure, Rev. Bob Kirkland, and Rev. Buster Gibson officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Clark's Grove Cemetery.
