Leonard L. Scarbro, Jr., age 78, of Maryville, Tn passed away on January 8, 2019 peacefully surrounded by his loved ones and precious dog that he loved Serena. He was born in Harriman, Tn on February 20, 1940. At the age of 18yrs old he joined the U.S.M.C. in 1958, basic training at Parris Island, SC, after basics he was stationed in California at Camp Pendleton. He served four years of service in the Marine Corp. Third Battalion Fifth Marines, India Co. There he met and married the "love of his life" Charlotte A. Pollard and had four children. They were married 49 years before she passed on October 9, 2008. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church of Rockford and enjoyed gospel singing with his loving wife through the years. He always said "I am a Winner Either Way". He worked for Sears and Roebuck, retiring after 33 years in May of 2003. He enjoyed golfing, football, basketball, and boxing, also watching all his children and grandchildren life accomplishments. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Charlotte A. Scarbro, his parents Leonard L. Scarbro, Sr. and Dorothy Scarbro, his brother John W. Scarbro and sister Patricia Ingle. He is survived by his son and daughter-in law, Leonard L. Scarbro III and wife ,Sandra Scarbro of Clinton, Tn and Roger and Tonya Scarbro of Maryville; daughters and sons- in-law, April and Brad Henry of Maryville and Melissa and Jeremy Flynn of Rockford; grandchildren, Robert, Kristen, Jordan, Brianna, Derek, Demi Scarbro, Andrew, Cole, and Samantha Henry, and Logan and Zachary Flynn; great-grandchildren Claire, Caden, Zola Mae, and Will; brother and sister-in law Samuel and Ginger Scarbro of Virginia. Special friends Delbert and Peggy Raines, and Vickie and the late Ed Emert. Several nieces, nephews, and special friends throughout East Tn and other states. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Friday, January 11, 2019 at Smith West Chapel. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM with Rev. Delbert Raines and Rev. Billy Moore officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Clarks Grove Cemetery.
