Leon Shields

Leon Shields, age 95 of Maryville passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was born in Cades Cove, TN November 28, 1927. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Naomi Shields; parents, Andrew Shields and Frances Oliver Shields; brother, Herman; sisters, Flora Headrick, Nola Shields, Norma Cunningham, Sue Ella Fagg, Dorothy Lucas; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Merriman, Betty Merriman. Survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and friends. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in the Philippines with the 342^nd Infantry Regiment of the 86^th Infantry Division. The past 59 years he has owned and managed Leon Shields Insurance Associates and 48 of those years he also served on the board of directors of CBBC Bank. He was of the Baptist Faith. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation, 233 Currie Ave, Maryville, TN 37804. Family and friends will assemble at 3:00 PM for Graveside Service and Interment Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Grandview Pavilion.
