Lennie Moss Powell born April 7, 1916 passed away March 15 at Asbury Health Center. Lennie was preceded in death by her husband, Ottis E. Powell. Her parents Mary E. and Robert K. Moss of Georgia; brothers Charlie, Ellis, Bob and RK; sisters Winnie (her twin), Moszell, Mildred and grandchildren Tony Kauthen, Gregory Ward and Great Grandchildren Noah Higdon and Alex Rockwell . She is survived by her sister Jetti Gilbert and sisters-in-law Rachel McGinnis, Rae Moss, and Vera Moss; sons and daughters-in-law Marshall and Velda Powell, Lenville and Lynn Powell, William and Selma Powell; daughter and sons-in-law Elizabeth and Rex Sloan, Joyce and William Sweet, Ann and Roger Weakley, Viola and David Kauthen, Jenny and Tom Ward; grandchildren Clifford Sloan, Annette Carson, Susan Boshears, Pam Sloan, Tina Rockwell, David Powell, Amy Higdon, Johnny Sweet, Lenville Sweet, Rebekah Owens, Lisa Collins, Tim Powell, Michael Weakley, Mark Weakley, Tonde Carter, Blain Kauthen, Eddie Kauthen, Kevin Kauthen, Craig Ward, Stacey Deitz, Wendy Atkins, 36 great grand children and 6 great-great grandchildren. Lennie retired from Blount Memorial Hospital, was active for over 40 years at Blount Election Commission, and a member of Everett Hills Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Friday, March 18, 2011 from 5:30-8 PM with the funeral to follow at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. David Powell, Dr. Craig Ward and Dr. Johnny Sweet will be officiating. Burial will be Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 9:30 AM at Sherwood Memorial Gardens with grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
