Lawrence James “Jim” Braun, age 73 originally from St. Louis, currently Maryville, TN, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023. He was a member of Fairview Methodist Church for 4 decades. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Janice Boring Braun; mother, Alice Barnes Braun; sister, Kathleen “Kate” Braun. Survived by his son, Christopher Michael Braun; estranged daughter, April Braun Hurley; brother, David A. Braun (Cindy); sisters, Linda Braun Coakley (Jim), Cheryl Braun Young (Jeff); grandchildren, Maverick Hurley, Dallas and Brooklyn Hurley; 2 very special aunts, Beverly Barnes Rulon and Dorothea Nall Barnes. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force. Jim was retired from Siemens of Knoxville. He was one of those people who constantly told jokes and made everyone laugh. If you needed anything, he’d give you the shirt off his back and had a bigger than life personality. He loved his family, cousins, nephews, and nieces. Wow, and what a special group of friends he had! He used to build model airplanes and mainly enjoy Bench Rest and Long Range Precision Shooting. Jim will be sadly missed by all of us and not easily forgotten, as he positively impacted the lives of so many for so long. And, as he would say, “and there you go”. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations to one of Jim’s favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday, April 8, 2022 at Smith Trinity Chapel. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM with Dr. Jerry Russell officiating.
