Known as Darrell by family and friends, he could most often be found on the water fishing, telling fish stories, and playing pranks on his fellow fishermen. Darrell and his loving wife, Gail, loved taking drives, getting lost and staying in whatever town they came to for the weekend. Darrell had a contagious laugh and a love for family and friends. Time spent with family was his favorite pastime, watching his kids grow, his grandkids play ball and learning cheers with his granddaughter. He spent many Saturdays over the years with grandsons and great-grandson on his lap while mowing the grass. Darrell had a tremendous love of God, his church family and serving the Lord by helping to serve anyone who needed help and selfishly spent many days doing just that. He was employed at Rockford Manufacturing for 35 years and was a member and deacon of Riverview Baptist Church. Special thank you and love to the Wagners; Cindy, Nic and Sarah, whose selfless gift of Nic’s kidney extended Darrell’s life almost 20 years. And a special gratitude to grandkids, Kyler & Emma Dalton for taking Darrell’s attitude of toughness and perseverance and showed love and care to their granddad always, but especially in his last days, taking care of all his needs. A private graveside service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 PM, Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Smithview Pavilion, 601 Smithview Drive, Maryville, TN 37803.
