Kevin Dwight Craig, 52, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, Tennessee. Kevin was born November 8, 1960 to R. David and Norma Craig in Kankakee, Illinois as the youngest of four children. He attended Olivet Nazarene College, where he completed his Bachelors of Science degree and met his future bride, Rhonda Gail (Rook) Craig. He then earned his Masters of Science degree, specializing in hydrogeology from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee in 1986. Kevin spent his career as a partner of the environmental firm, Strata Environmental, based in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was the acting principal hydrogeologist and also the developer of an environmental records-keeping software called EiOS. Kevin's first priority, love, and passion, under God, was his family. He loved people with an open and giving heart that mirrored his love for God and faith in Christ. He reveled in outdoor activities like fly fishing and hiking. He also loved to build and remodel, turning carpentry into art. Kevin thrived on helping others and went out of his way to help anyone in whatever capacity was needed. Kevin is survived by his wife, Rhonda; daughter's Audrey (Daniel) Lupisella and Rachel; sons Bradley (Miranda) and Jerod; grandchildren Parker Everett and Caia and Elena Lupisella; mother Norma; father and mother-in-law Herman and Dixie Rook; sister Marcia (Kevin) Bainter; brothers Byron (Peggy) and Gordon (Kay); sisters-in-law Robin (Jeff) Vickery and Denise (Jason) Moystner; brothers-in-law David (Gwen) Rook and Ronald (Nancy) Rook; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, R. David Craig. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Fairview United Methodist Church at 6:00 pm with Dr. Jerald Russell officiating. The family will receive friends at the church before the service from 4:30-6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Samaritan Hands or Blount County Young Life.
