Kenneth R. Spires

Kenneth R. Spires age 82 of Greenback, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Loudon Healthcare Center. Mr. Spires had a deep and devoted love for our Lord and Creator. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where he loved to sing in the church choir. He was a lifelong tobacco farmer and he was a devoted husband, father, & grandfather who will be deeply loved & missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vonnie Spires of 58 years; 4 sons, Ray, Jerry, Leonard & Fred; 5 sisters & 4 brothers. Survivors include his daughters & sons-in-law, Patsy & John Hanley of Maryville, Martha & Jeff Watkins of Maryville, Diane Gail & Everett Ballard of Rockford, Barbara McGregor of Knoxville; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family also survive. A special thanks to the staff and doctors at Loudon Healthcare and the Hospice team of Sweetwater. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday, January 2, 2012 at Smith West Chapel. Funeral service 7:00 pm Monday with Rev. Grayson Garrett officiating. The family & friends will assemble at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Greenback, for the interment.
