Kenneth Lee Rigsby

December 6, 1926 — April 5, 2015

Kenneth Lee Rigsby, age 88, went home to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015. He was born and raised in Blount County, and he served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a committed Christian who loved the Lord and was known to all as an honest, kind and loving man with a gentle spirit. He adored his wife and family. Ken was a gifted woodworker. He loved the Smoky Mountains and the UT Vols. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Bonnie Jo Effler Rigsby. He is also survived by four children, Karen LaCourse of Michigan, Kathy Black (Sanford) of Michigan, Kenneth Rigsby Jr. (Jimmy) of Florida, and Kelly Russell of Michigan; seven grandchildren, Tracy Boyd (Tiffany), Julie Stanton (Mark), Jacob Black, Jason Rigsby (Ashley), Cassie Hamiter (Trace), Courtney Foss, Zachary Foss; and also survived by 12 beautiful great-grandchildren who were his greatest joy, Sydney, Isabelle, Amelia, Clay, Cole, Evan, Taylor, Gray, Cayden, Micah, Chance, and Hailey. Also survived by two sisters, Willie Thomas of Michigan, Helen Moyers of Knoxville; and a brother, Eugene Rigsby of Knoxville. Services will be on April 11, 2015, at Smith Funeral Home, Maryville, with visitation noon-2 p.m. and funeral service at 2 p.m. Then at 3 p.m., at Grandview Cemetery, there will be a graveside military honor service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital of Tennessee.
