Kenneth Leon Hodson

June 18, 1922 — June 21, 2009

Hodson, Kenneth L. "Dad", 87, of Maryville passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was an army veteran of WWII, serving in North Africa and Italy. He retired from ALCOA in 1973 after 34 years of service. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Alcoa. He graduated from Maryville High School in 1942. He was the Captain of the football team, and was selected to the All-Blount County Team for 3 years in a row. He was active in youth sports programs coaching many teams throughout the 1950s and 1960s. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fly fisherman taking many trophy fish from the streams and lakes of East Tennessee. He enjoyed travel, and visiting with his army buddies across the country. He was preceded in death by wife Mary Ruth Hackworth Hodson. He is survived by wife Darlene McCall Hodson, sons, Steve and wife, Alicia, Ken and wife, Sandy, and Brad; Grandchildren, Bethany and Rick Pope, Chad and Morgan Hodson, Kari Hodson, Matt and Kadena Hodson, and Jacob Hodson; Great-Grandchildren Connor and Mackenzie Pope, Darcy Hodson and Aiden Hodson; Sister-in-laws, Fanny Taylor of FL and Eloise Hackworth of Powell, TN and several nieces and nephews; Step-children, Rowdy and Regina McCall, Teresa and Mark Karimian, Tammy and Jim Atkins; Step-grandchildren, Ricky and Wesley Hall, Rowdy McCall III, and Tiffany, Yasmin and Cameron Karimian. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Greg Kelly & Rev. George Gilbert officiating. Family & friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Grandview Cemetery for the interment. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 983-1000.
