Kenneth Bollan

Kenneth Walter Bollan, 89 of Maryville, TN went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 6, 2013. Kenneth was born May 14, 1924 and was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Florence Bollan, brother Stephen Bollan, and his first wife, Evalyne Bollan . He was survived by his wife Draper (Salley) of Villa Park, Illinois, his Nephews Steven Bollan and his children, Nicole & Kevin of Glen Ellen, Illinois and Michael Bollan (Laura) and their children, Matthew & Melissa of Charleston, Illinois. Siegrun Strak, sister-in-law of Ocala, Florida; Gertrude Swing, sister-in-law and other nieces, nephews of Des Plaines, Illinois, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kenneth was most proud of serving our country during WWII where he flew B24's to protect our freedoms. Kenneth flew over 50 missions while serving in the military. He flew cargo planes out of O'Hare International Airport after the war; owned and operated a construction company in Chicago where he designed and built homes. Kenneth has traveled the world and enjoyed sharing stories about all of his adventures. Kenneth was a master carpenter who loved spending time in is woodworking shop. His home was filled with examples of his work; beautiful furniture, doors, and stairways. Kenneth was a member of the Chicago and Northeast Illinois District Council of Carpenters. He was an avid airplane enthusiast and a member of The Coot Builders Club. Kenneth spent hours building a Coot airplane from scratch in his shop. When you spent time with Kenneth, you always wanted to have him tell you stories from the war, his many travels, all of the buildings he designed, hunting, fishing or anything else you could get him to share. He was an expert on almost anything you could bring up. Kenneth was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
