Kay Lippincott Gibson

KAY LIPPINCOTT GIBSON, age 62, of Maryville, passed away Friday November 15th after a short illness. Kay was born in Fort Myers, FL and came to Tennessee to attend Maryville College. She met and married her future husband, Russell Gibson MD, and they chose to stay and raise their family in Maryville. Kay was a long-time employee of Blount Discount Pharmacy and considered her coworkers family. Kay was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandma, and friend. She was filled with compassion and empathy for others and would go out of her way to support anyone who needed help. She was devoted to her children and treated all of their friends as if they were her own. Everyone she met loved her. She is preceded in death by her father, Dale Lippincott, and her brother, Lee. She is survived by her husband Dr. Russell Gibson, mother Edith, Aunt Bitsy, and mother-in-law Mary Gibson. She is also survived by her three children, Katie (Mohamed) Taam, Dr. Andrew (Aleah) Gibson, and Dr. Richard (Sarah) Gibson. Also by her amazing grandsons Dean and Thomas. The family will have a small private celebration of life. Kay lived her life in service to others and in lieu of flowers she would have preferred donations to her favorite charities: The Blount County Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, and Friends of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
