Katherine Sue Shultz

Katherine Sue (Gregory) Shultz, passed away, Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at home. She was born July 20, 1920 in Cades Cove, TN to the late William M. & Catherine (Tipton) Gregory. She graduated from Everett High School in 1940. In later years fulfilled her long time dream of being a nurse and retired from Blount Memorial Hospital. She attended Cades Cove Baptist Fellowship Church. Preceded in death by: Parents; Husband, Clay B. Shultz; Sister & Brother-in-law, Flora Gregory & Edward Schlangen; Brothers, Mike Hanley Gregory, Lawrence Gregory and Lester Gregory; Brothers & Sisters-in-law, Henry & Rose (Davis) Gregory, Huse & Clemmie (Myers) Gregory, Ollie & Belva (Jemes) Gregory and Kara & Martha (Pack) Gregory; Son-in-law, Frank E. Gardner. Survivors include: Daughter & Son-in-law, Helen Shultz & Lendel D. Abbott of Maryville; Grandson & wife, Trevis Dale & Candice (Kiser) Gardner of Maryville; Step Grandson & wife, Steve Abbott & Pat Abbott of Maryville; Great-Granddaughters, Elizabeth Katharine (Libby Kate) and Rebekah Dale (Bekah Dale) Gardner of Maryville; Step-Great-Granddaughter, Shauniece Abbott of Greenback; Sisters-in-law, Edna (Staley) Gregory of Kingsport, TN and Jean (Headrick) (Gregory) Clabo of Walland; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law, R.C. and Opal Shultz of Madisonville; Extended Children, Charles & Ruby (Foxx) Schlangen of Harstelle, AL, Ric & Debbie Lambert of Bristol, VA, Extended grandchildren, Nick, Lauren and Ryan Lambert, Cheryl & Phillip Parker, Gary & Jacklyn Schlangen of Decutar, AL and Ernie & Rose Schlangen of Canada, Summer & John Evans of Harstelle, AL; Special cousins, Betty (Tipton) Seaton, Jessie (Burchfield) James, Carolyn (Burchfield) Trentham and Mary Teffeteller of Maryville; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved along with her church family; caregivers, Whitney McDowell and Pat Abbott. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Smith West Chapel with Rev. Greg Williamson officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10:30 AM, Friday, January 22, 2010 at Cades Cove Memorial Church Cemetery for the interment. Tolling of old Cades Cove Bell will follow the interment in memory of Katherine and her brother Lawrence Gregory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Blount Memorial Hospice, 1095 E.
