June Whitehead Wood

June Whitehead Wood went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2019. She was born May 31, 1932 in Townsend, Tennessee. June was a member of Everett Hills Baptist Church and resident at MorningView Village in Maryville TN. June attended school in Etowah Tn. She married C.O. Wood, Jr. and moved to Chattanooga where she resided for 58 years. There June raised her sons, worked as a nurse and active member of Memorial Baptist Church. June graduated from Etowah High School class of 1950. As an LPN she worked at Memorial Hospital and the offices of Dr. Joe Anne Quillian and Dr. Hammock. June and C.O. traveled widely and snowbirded in Zephyr Hills, FL. in their RV. To June her greatest fulfillment was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. June is preceded in death by her parents, Noah Bunion (Bun) and Lela Caylor Whitehead, husband of 57 years, C. O. Wood, Jr., brothers, Harold Whitehead, Charles Whitehead, Glen Whitehead and sister, Mary Leamon. She is survived by her sons C. Michael Wood (Kathy) and Steven K. Wood (Rosalind) and brothers Dale Whitehead (Sara) and N.B. Whitehead (Tootsie), sister-in-law Francis (Glen) Whitehead, brother-in-law Jack (Mary) Leamon, grandchildren Rachel Wahlert, Rebecca Henderson, Morgan Wood and Katie Weber and five great grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Smith Trinity Chapel with funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Doug Hayes officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Chattanooga Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
