Juanita Hicks Green, born March 15, 1927, in Kingsport, TN, died peacefully January 8, 2024, at the age of 96 in Maryville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Green; her parents R.J. Hicks and Gladys Wood Hicks; her siblings Bob Hicks, Lucille Phillips, Freida Morton, and Paul Hicks; sister-in-law Mary Lynn Rudd; grandson, Jeremy Captain; daughter-in-law Debbie Bush Green, and son-in-law Timothy Leveille. She is survived by her four children: Teresa G. Sprinkle (Ken), Mark E. Green (Huma Khan), Melinda Captain Green, and Jeanie Leveille Green; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and much-loved nieces and nephews from the Rudd, Phillips, Morton, and Hicks families.
Juanita graduated from Knoxville High School in 1947, and began working in the business field. She married Charles E. Green on May 13, 1949. She retired from Robertshaw Fulton Sylphon in 1989. She was a charter member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church where she worshipped and attended faithfully for over 50 years – singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, and working in missions. Juanita’s legacy was the love she invested in her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and is missed beyond words.
Family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:30 PM Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Smith Trinity Chapel in Maryville, TN. Funeral service will be at 1:30 PM with Dr. Ken Sprinkle officiating. Music accompaniment provided by Susan Rudd Derrick. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville, TN.
