Joyce Gross Woolf, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Maryville Health Center. Mrs. Woolf was born in LaFollette, Tennessee, in 1938. Her parents, Charles V. Gross and Ruth G. Gross, moved to Blount County in 1942, where her father was employed by the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA, Inc.). She graduated from Alcoa High School in 1956 and attended the University of Tennessee. Mrs. Woolf helped organize the Girls Club of Maryville and served on the board of Child and Family Services. Mrs. Woolf was a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville, where she was ordained as a deacon, taught a Sunday School class and was a member of the adult choir. Her special interests were music and helping disabled children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas B. Woolf. Survivors include her son, Thomas B. Woolf, Jr.; brother-in-law, William R. Miller; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 in the Smith West Chapel with Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:45 a.m. at Grandview Cemetery for the interment. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service.
